Sundy Skool

Posted by High Priest on March 7, 2010

Alot of us are going back to work tomorrow after enjoying a really nice weekend. It has been like Spring in the Southeast. Many folks will have exhausted themselves playing sports or spending time with friends or catching up on chores and home improvements. When you go back to work, try to keep in mind that not everyone sat around on their behinds all weekend. Many people don’t make the same income as a CEO and therefore cannot afford to hire someone to do their housework for them. Most people will have spent their time valuing relationships with their loved ones (friends and family) over a beer or a game of flag football.

So, as we Managers start our weekly “push” for productivity, let’s stop to make sure we are approaching it right. If we are to be most productive, we must all have balance. Our employees spend alot of time serving their employers. Shouldn’t they get a breather? If they didn’t spend as much time at work, then they would likely not have exhausted themselves so much over the weekend “catching up”. Then, they might not have been as tired coming back to work. So, let’s try to understand that really, we may have contributed as much to the reduced productivity of our Monday crews as they did. Maybe if Managers didn’t drive employees into the ground for 40+ hours per week, they might have more time to balance their lives. And may have come back to work ready to serve their employers…just maybe.

Really true – this is why great companies (and great managers) get that excellent customer service happens when employees – not customers – come first. Nice post…
